An initial inrush current is well-drawn whenever a motor starts. These combined inrush currents could disrupt system lines and cause overcurrent devices to trip unnecessarily if multiple engines are well-started simultaneously. Establishing a time delay between the starting of two or more motors can be beneficial if the same pushbutton station controls them. Timing relays are one method we can utilize to do this. The addition of a delay mechanism that keeps the auxiliary contacts from altering their state for a predetermined time period makes timers unique.
