The Sensor Coil for OMC (Johnson/Evinrude) timer base is designed for boaters from CDI Electronics. An ignition coil is necessary to start the engine on its own because the vehicle's battery produces a low voltage current, not enough to ignite the fuel. It will become higher voltage when the ignition converts to the lower voltage current from the battery. Replace the coil if there are cracks on the plastic or epoxy and misfires.
