An O-ring, also known as a packing or toric junction, is a torus-shaped elastomer mechanical gasket with a circular cross-section that sits in a groove and compresses when two or more pieces are assembled, sealing the contact. O rings prevent a liquid or gas from escaping through a hole in a pipe. It is inserted into a groove and then crushed between two surfaces. Sierra designed the 18-7112 o-ring for Johnson/Evinrude engines. The width of the o-ring is 0.135 inches while the diameter of the o-ring is 1.170 inches. The box contains one o-ring.
