In 4 Barrel Rochester Carburator-Mercury - Sierra Marine Engine Parts (18-7615) or quadrajets, the metering rods are well-moved by a vacuum-operated piston, which controls the air-fuel ratio. It enables the mixture to lean under low load conditions and rich under high load. In a less popular variation, the power piston is mechanically well-moved by a linkage powered by the throttle shaft.

  • The solenoid responds to electronic signals from the throttle position and oxygen sensors via the computer.
