A magnesium anode is a sacrificial or galvanic corrosion prevention device attached to steel buildings to prevent or slow rusting. Magnesium anodes provide a more convenient and appealing oxidation source than the steel structures to which they are attached.

The 18-6158M Magnesium Anode Kit from Sierra is made for Mercruiser Alpha I Gen II stern drives. Magnesium anodes are only employed in freshwater systems. Each box contains one anode kit. Mercruiser Stern Drive 888755A1, 888755Q01, and 97-888755Q03 are interchangeable.
